With "30 Minutes or Less" opening this weekend, Grand Rapids film making is in the forefront of the local art scene. So what better way to celebrate Grand Rapids film making then by checking out the Grand Rapids Film Fest. Tonight through Friday on the Grand Rapids campus of Western Michigan University at Cherry and Ionia.
Rob Bliss is getting ready to host his second annual Electronic Music Fest. And he still owes the city money. Almost $5,200 from last years' festival. He also owes almost $27,000 from the giant water slide from last year. So the City brought all this up last night when deciding to let him have an exemption to the sound curfew.

First Lady Betty Ford arrived in Grand Rapids yesterday via the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. The plane landed a few minutes before 5pm and was greeted by Governor Snyder and Mayor George Heartwell. The motorcade, carrying the late Betty Ford, then traveled to the Gerald R. Ford Museum for a public viewing and memorial service.
WZZM 13 reports mourners at the service at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church included guests with ties to every presidential administration for more than half a century, Republican and Democrat. Betty Ford was remembered as a Trail blazer because of the Betty Ford Center which has helped millions.

WZZM 13 news reports on Wednesday Betty Ford's body will be flown into Grand Rapids airport around 5:00 PM.
She will take nearly the same route that her husband took to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. After leaving the airport she will head down 28th street, onto I-96 westbound to I-196 to downtown and then to the Museum.
