College Football Starts Tonight, Here’s The Rundown of Michigan Schools In Action
It's the most wonderful time of the year! The time when marching band music is joyous to hear, and the student section limps home apathetically after another loss.
Michigan schools have a tough slate of games to get through, here's the schedule and a off kilter prediction from me.
Remember kids, no wagering!!
THURSDAY
Michigan at Utah, 8:30pm -- The Wolverines debut their much ballayhooed khaki commandant, Jim Harbaugh, with an incredibly tough road game against a Pac-12 title contender. I think the Wolverines will give a spirited effort for their new leader, but a rudderless offense is going take some time to rebuild. Utah 27, Michigan 17.
Oklahoma State at Central Michigan, 7:00pm -- The Chippewas host a big time, Big 12 power for their first game under new coach John Bonamego. Being at home should be an advantage for the Chips, who return a team with lots of big holes to fill on both sides of the ball. The emotion of having their coach return after successful cancer treatment may fire up the Chips, but OSU is too big and too deep to beat. OSU 37, CMU 14
Southwest Baptist at Grand Valley, 7:00pm -- The Lakers are coming off a disappointing season for them, and will probably take it out on the Bearcats. GVSU 38, SWB 12.
FRIDAY
Michigan State at Western Michigan, 7:00pm -- The may be the best game of the weekend, as the Spartans come in ranked fifth in the nation, while the Broncos are picked by many to win the MAC West. The Spartans have a chip on their shoulder after spending much of the off season in the shadow of the Harbaugh hire in Ann Arbor. The Broncos, meanwhile, would like to make a HUGE statement with a good showing in this game. In the end, the Spartans will be too much for the Broncos too handle, but look for it to be closer than expected. MSU 35, WMU 20
SATURDAY
Monmouth (IL) at Hope College, 1:30pm -- The Dutchmen will seek revenge against Monmouth, who beat them in last year's opener. Hope 24, Monmouth 21.
