Kids Can Get a Free Hunting License at Meijer This Weekend!
The end of summer in Michigan also means the start of hunting season and we're only a couple weeks away so this weekend Meijer is getting the junior hunters ready by offering free licenses.
This Friday 9/8 and Saturday 9/9 kids, 16 and younger, can stop into any Michigan Meijer store to get a junior hunting license for free. Licenses are normally $20 and a coupon worth the value of a license will need to be picked up in the sports department before being redeemed.
If you have an mPerk account check for a coupon this weekend, Bargains to Bounty says the coupon was also available that way last year.
Kids MUST have a parent with them in order to be given a license.
While the hunting license itself will be free this weekend, you must first have a base license. According to the Michigan DNR this is a requirement for all residents and non-residents who plan on hunting in the state. The base allows you to purchase other licenses and hunt small game. The cost is $6 for a child 10-16 years-old. Any younger is not required.
Meijer has given out 15K junior licenses a year since partnering with the DNR in 2008.
