A crew in a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter was able to get a great view of some shipwrecks while flying over northern Lake Michigan last week.

In post to its Facebook page Sunday, the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station in Traverse City said that the helicopter was flying in the area of Sleeping Bear Point between Leland and Northport when the crew spotted the shipwrecks in the clear water.

The Coast Guard wasn’t able to identify the wrecks right away, but learned from a Facebook fan that two of them are the James McBride, which ran aground on Oct. 19, 1856, and the Rising Sun, which was stranded on Oct. 29, 1917.
