Paul McCartney, Meet Alice Cooper? [Video]
A new Paul McCartney tribute album is due out in November. It features a truly eclectic roster of artists contributing takes on McCartney or Lennon & McCartney songs. Now we’ve got a sample: Alice Cooper sings “Eleanor Rigby.” Why? Why not?
If it’s too much in concept for you, never fear – don’t forget that we’ve got much more reasonable combos –Chrissie Hynde on “Let it Be,” Bee Gee Barry Gibb on “When I’m 64,” Brian Wilson turns in an amazing rendition of “Wanderlust,” and the Cure’s Robert Smith offers a curious and cool version of “Hello Goodbye.”
A complete track list is posted online, and there are at least five different versions of the project including a box set with vinyl and CDs. There are gatefolds, illustrated books, and all kinds of extras including a USB in the shape of a Hofner guitar. And while the whole shebang doesn’t arrive until November 18th, you can pre-order now and get a number of single songs instantly for doing so.
