Another downtown landmark is closing. The Ritz Coney Bar on Ionia will be closing at the end of February. Crap.

According to grnow.com and The Ritz Facebook Page, the landlords want to put a new restaruant in that place, so Ritz is closing.

"It is with mixed emotions and heavy heart, we are announcing the official closing of Ritz Koney Bar & Grille on February 23, 2015
We would first like to thank our families, friends, vendors and loyal patrons who have been on this journey with us since our humble beginnings ten years ago. What an incredible adventure it has been. We are so proud of the strides our team has made in recent years and the incredible amount of time and effort they have dedicated to making this business so successful. We established a great brand, and a fun dining and bar experience in the Heartside District of downtown Grand Rapids. It was very unique, affordable, and provided a comfortable setting for our patrons. We are very proud of that accomplishment.

In summary. The landlord of our building has elected not to renew our lease and decided to put in another restaurant establishment. We were just given our 30 day notice and have to vacate the premises by the end February. Due to the very short notice, we will not have ample time to find another suitable location for business. The costs associated with the closing and the tens of thousands of dollars lost, it will be unlikely we can financially re-coop that money and open another location at this time."

So sad. They go on to say that everyone should come in "soon for one last visit. Share some fun stories, grab a bite to eat, and have a cold one."

Count me in!
