In a new video address to his fan club, Sammy Hagar reveals that he will soon be releasing a new album, less than a year after  2013′s ‘Sammy Hagar & Friends’ hit stores. The project, dubbed "Light Roast" will feature new acoustic versions of some of his best known songs.

Sammy says he got inspired while rehearsing for last week’s inaugural Acoustic For A Cure.

Although he does not mention a specific date for the album’s release, Sammy says that the new record will be available via his website "in the near future." He also mentions that he won't be doing any touring in direct support of the album, although he hopes to add an acoustic segment to his concerts in the future.  “It was just me and [longtime Wabos guitarist] Vic [Johnson] live in the studio with no overdubs," he explains. "Just two guitars, sometimes one guitar, sometimes just one voice, sometimes two voices.”

Hagar and Johnson agree that while they have done limited acoustic work in the past for radio station appearances and such, the making of the record was actually the first time they'd committed to full on acoustic treatment of his songs. “I started to learn how to sing like that,” he says in the clip. “I have the hardest time singing without a whole band behind me but I learned how to do it and it really helped me. It will make me a better singer.” And make us bigger fans.
