Once again, the debate rages over the SS Badger.

Their permit ends in December and unless it's extended, the ship will have to shut down.

“It’s important to keep the Badger operating,” said Sen Carl Levin “But dumping coal ash into Lake Michigan is not a permanent solution.”

Levin said he has attempted to talk to the owners of the Badger and the EPA to work on solutions from new fuel technology. He has suggested liquefied natural gas or finding a storage solution for the ash on the ship, but as of now. No Dice.
