So They Are Gay? Do We, Or Should We Care?
Don Lemon is gay. Who is that, you ask? He's an overnight and weekend news anchor on CNN. Rick Welts is gay. Who is that? He's the president and CEO of the Phoenix Suns NBA team. These are 2 more people who have come out in the last few days. Why do we care?
I say that for 2 reasons. No, I'm not homophobic. Not at all. I have very good friends who happen to be gay. Sorry, I just see them as very good friends. And last I checked it's 2011. Why is this even news.
For starters, a person's sexual orientation has nothing to do with how they perform their job or make their living. Straight people don't have to announce they are "straight". Who's business is it anyway? I don't care if the ballplayer, the actor, the policewoman or politician is gay, all I care is that they are good people and they are doing their job. And are happy. Like anyone.
Neil Patrick Harris is gay, but you wouldn't know it by how he acts on How I Met Your Mother. Ellen Degeneres is gay, but she still can't dance a lick...:) (That was a funny...she's funny to...get it?)
Lots of people who are famous are gay, as well as lots who aren't. I still go back to...Who Cares?
Let these people live their lives, and get on with yours. Maybe if YOU worried more about your life or job or whatever, you wouldn't have to spend so much time worrying about THEIRS.
OK...I'm off my soapbox. Back to your regularly scheduled blog.
