November 13, 2012 So Grand Rapids DOESN'T have game! At least the NCAA doesn't think so! WZZM TV 13 is reporting the NCAA has passed on a chance to change the venue for the Tournaments' play in game in 2014 and 2015. Commonly referred to as the "First Four", Van Andel Arena would have hosted the first 2 games, and Michigan State would have been the host school.
If you were looking forward to seeing Journey, Loverboy and Pat Benatar at Van Andel Arena this Saturday, you're unfortunately going to have to wait a little longer. Journey has postponed their next five shows, and that includes their Grand Rapids date.
May 17, 2012 Van Halen has cancelled the last part of their North American tour, including shows in Detroit and at Van Andel here in Grand Rapids. No word on refunds, or why the tour has been halted after the June 26th show in New Orleans. Pollstar.com reports "Individual market announcements regarding postponements began today. Newspapers in Salt Lake City and El Paso reported that promoters didn’t offer explanations for the bad news."
