Today Is One Second Longer, And Here’s How You Can Spend Your Extra Second
Today, we gain some time back, finally! But don't blink or you might miss it.
Today, June 30th, we get an extra second! At 8 p.m. Eastern time we'll gain an extra second to make up for the gradual slow down of the Earth's rotation. Instead of the usual 86,400-second Earth rotation, today it'll be 86,401 seconds long.
So what can you do with one extra second?
A lot, as it turns out. The HBO Show 'Last Week Tonight with John Oliver' has set up a web page with the distinct title 'Spend your Leap Second Here', and it offers a series of one second videos which are quite entertaining.
Like TV artist Bob Ross "We'll make a happy little cloud", or Harvey Keitel crying strangely in "Bad Lieutenant"
.
Have a second? Of course you do!
