Verizon Gave Guy Sir Mix-a-Lot’s Old Phone Number – and Man’s Life Turned Into a Nightmare

A guy in Seattle got a new phone and picked out a phone number at a Verizon store, mostly because it was easy to remember.

Well, the easy-to-remember number that law student Jonathan Nicholspicked out just happened to be Sir Mix-a-Lot’s old number…which made Jonathan’s life very, very interesting.

Without warning, he started getting offers of backstage passes and bikini pics.

People were sending him links to rap performances.

And then there were calls from luxury-car dealerships like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Jaguar -- all asking if he’d like to come out to the dealership and take one or two of their cars for a spin.

Finally, when some of the callers and texters referred to a guy named Anthony Ray, Jonathan was able to connect the dots. Anthony Ray is the real name of Seattle hip-hop legend Sir Mix-a-Lot.

When told of the phone number switcheroo, Sir Mix-a-Lot offered up some real world advice for Jonathan. The rapper suggested that Jonathan not check any text messages in front of his wife -- and that he never answers a text with the word, “yes,” because agreeing to something someone is offering usually involves opening your wallet.

The guy had one hit back in the early 90s and he’s still a force to be reckoned with. I wonder how many of those photos texted to him were of big butts. That would get tiresome, wouldn't it?

Then again, he could have gotten Vanilla Ice's number, which might not have been as exciting.
