It’s a cliché for sure, but sports is nothing but a business.

Need further proof?

Detroit Tiger Austin Jackson was minding his own business out in center field yesterday when in the seventh inning, he was told he was traded to the Seattle Mariners.

Jackson immediately trotted off the field, said goodbye to his former teammates in the dugout and left the stadium.

Could you imagine going to work tomorrow and having your boss come to your desk and tell you that you don’t work there anymore - and shipping you off to another company that you didn’t choose?

That’s a crazy business. But considering these guys are making a small fortune playing a child’s game, it’s not that bad of a deal.

Even though they get paid very good salaries -- it can’t be easy knowing your whole life has just changed and you have to sell your house and take your kids out of school. Wouldn’t that be jarring?
