The web site Zippia has listed the most successful cities in the state, and the GR area is well represented. One GR suburb landed in the Top Ten, and five more landed in the Top 50.

To determine a city's success rate, Zippia used the following criteria:

  • Poverty Level
  • Median Household Income
  • Unemployment Rate

Median household income is the most digestible way to understand how wealthy a place really is. The unemployment rate tries to capture the prospects for more people to become rich. And finally, if more people are employed, the brighter (and more successful) that place’s future looks.

Also squeaking into the Top 100 were Wyoming at 63rd and Grand Rapids at 96th.
