AV Club has compiled a list of 20 live songs that kick the crap out of the original studio versions. 

Their list of 20 live versions of songs that slay their studio counterparts is spot on.

Could you imagine trying to rock out to the lame, lifeless studio version of Cheap Trick's "I Want You To Want Me"?

No. Because that song is made by Robin Zander's famous declaration at the beginning of the Live from Budokon version: "I want YOU, to want ME!" that kicks it off perfectly.

Sure there's some weirdness on the list, and I'm not sure I agree that The Talking Heads live take on "Life During Wartime" beats the studio version from Fear of Music, but all in all it's a great look back to the heyday of great live albums.
