The cold weather is back, and that means frosted windshields. Here's a couple of things you can do to make clearing them off a bit easier.

First Of All Boiling Water Is NOT A Good Idea For Your Windshield

Pouring hot water into a plastic bag is the one idea that you should NEVER try, even if there are people telling you to do that.

Several videos suggest that to melt the ice on your windshield, you should place boiling water in a plastic bag and drag the bag around the exterior of your windshield.

Yeah, I wouldn't do that if I were you. It could result in tiny, miniscule fractures in your windshield that could lead to it shattering when it freezes again, and believe me, you don't want that.

Luckily, These Next Two Defrosting Hacks Are Safer And WAY Easier

Fortunately, the next two hacks are much safer and simpler.

1. Park your vehicle facing east. It allows you to get the most sun exposure as soon as possible. As a result, the ice should melt slightly or become easier to scrape off.

2. Experiment with the sun visor hack. Pull both sun visors down when you warm up your car and turn on the defrost. It traps warm air near your windshield, which should help the ice melt faster.

Or get a car that allows you to start it form the warmth of your home, and wait until it's warm. I don't have one of those cars, so stop rubbing it in.
