Classic Rock Fantasy Draft
CBS Sports writer Matt Norlander came up with a fantasy draft game for classic rock band members that is fun to play and talk about in your spare time, although I think he under priced some pretty good rhythm section players.
Here's the original post, which lays out how the game is played.
So, here's how I would lay my money out:
DRUMS -- Stewart Copeland, The Police, $2
Tremendously low priced at two bucks, Copeland is both skilled and energetic, so my band will pop.
BASS -- John Paul Jones, Led Zeppelin, $1
Are you kidding me? One half of the monster bottom that drove Zeppelin classics like "Kashmir" and "Fool In The Rain" is only a buck. Great! Now I got a solid bassist and a production wizard to boot.
FRONTMAN -- Mick Jagger, The Rolling Stones, $9
No one comes close to Jagger's showmanship. And thanks to the inexpensive rhythm section, I have the best lead singer ever.
TOTAL SPENT SO FAR -- $12
Now, here's where we have to make some tough decisions.
OK, tough call here, as there are better guitarists on this list. But The Edge is solid and competent, and the opening riff of pride in the name of love is still one of the most powerful in all of rock 'n' roll.
LEAD GUITAR -- David Gilmour, Pink Floyd, $7
Perfect! The piece de resistance is a man who can master power blues chords and fast runs, at a nice price.
My classic rock band is complete. Now it's your turn.
