Don Is Dead.

The guy who "created" the sound of the Monkees, the Archies, and the Midnight Special in the 70's is dead. Don Kirshner was 76.

Here is Don's biggest success. The Monkees (the "pre-fab 4" ) were created in response to the Beatles in the mid 60's. Kirshner was legendary for his clashes with the band over control, but in the end, his sound made the Monkees a top 10 "band" through out the late 60's...Here's one of their bigger songs, Daydream Believer.
