Accidents happen, but sometimes you wonder HOW people land themselves in certain situations...

And that's exactly what happened overnight on Saturday September 23rd when a cargo van went barreling through the intersection at 29th and Breton in Grand Rapids into the storefront of a popular LEGO retailer that's been open less than a year.

According to a post on social media, the owners of Bricks and Minifigs found someone had driven their truck into their store front at a high speed around 12:50 that morning, destroying their windows and several displays inside the store.

And as someone who drives through that intersection, I can SORT of understand how you could run that light, but the store itself is pretty far from the road, so they must have been traveling at a high speed...

(This old Google image shows it as a TMobile store, but that's actually where Bricks and Minifigs is now.)

Their post on social media was very gracious towards this person's epic fail:

We are already working on clean-up and recovery, and can’t wait to bring you more LEGO® fun soon. We will have an outdoor fall celebration shop at the store on Saturday this week, keep your eyes on our social media feeds for details. We do have a lot of work ahead of us, so we continue to ask for your patience and support as we get ready to come back even better and stronger.

For the time being, the store does remain closed so that the owners can clean up after the destruction to their store, but they are still planning to be back open and ready to serve LEGO fans in no time.

Until then, you can keep an eye on their social media to find out more updates on when they plan to reopen to the public.
