Score Big With Tasty Treats: A Look At The 2024 Whitecaps Menu

Baseball season is almost upon of us, which means the West Michigan Whitecaps will be throwing their first pitch of the season at 6:35 on April 9th against the Quad City River Bandits. And while we're all excited to get back out to hear the crack of the bat and the roar of the crowd, there's one thing we're all secretly the most excited about: the food.

The West Michigan Whitecaps have some of the best stadium food that you'll find in the state of Michigan, and on Tuesday March 19th they unveiled the newest additions to their menu for the 2024 season that you absolutely will not want to miss. (And lucky for you, I got to try them all so I'll let you know what to expect)

Here are the new additions to the food lineup at LMCU Ballpark for this season:

Rice Bowl Rendezvous

These 'healthy options' were some of my favorite of all. You start by picking a base of rice (Cilantro Lime or Latin rice) then you pick one of their proteins (The burnt ends were perfectly tender, meanwhile the Choizo had the spice I'm always craving) and then you finish off by picking your toppings and sauces. These are perfect for the person in your group who isn't ready to chow down on the fried stuff.

Cheese Wedges

You'll find these cheesy bites at the Queso Castle, and they're the perfect snack for your favorite cheese lover. They're a blend of salty paneer and rich white cheddar cheese, encased in a light and crispy tempura coating. Think of them like Cheese Curds but better.

Tony Capp Big Beef Sandwich

Named after General Manager Tony Cappuccilli, this is being added to the menu in honor of his rich Italian heritage. Served at the Quesadilla Cart, this sandwich starts with a soft and chewy 6-inch French bread roll, piled high with thinly sliced roast beef marinated in authentic Italian seasoned au jus. Then they add a layer of melted Swiss cheese, adding a creamy richness that perfectly complements the savory beef.

Jalapeno Bacon Firecracker

This may have been one of my favorite things we tried. Think of it like a very spicy rangoon. You'll find this one at the Queso Castle, and each firecracker features five crispy wontons stuffed with a blend of gooey cream cheese, savory bacon, and just the right kick of jalapeno. Then they're drizzled with a raspberry sauce that gives you a little sweet kiss after all of the heat. These are a must try!

Frycuterie Box

You've heard of a charcuterie board, but this is the ultimate version. Jam packed into a pizza box, this sampler of all things fried and tasty is perfect to split with your group. You'll get waffle fries, mini mashers, cheese curds and jalapeno bacon firecrackers with a slew of dipping sauces to enjoy them in. Just remember not to double dip if you plan to enjoy with a friend.

Pretzel Bun with pulled pork

Another culinary delight that you'll find at the Queso Castle is the Pulled Pork sandwich on their new pretzel bun. A fun new twist on an old favorite, this is absolutely a homerun.

Robinsons Popcorn

A West Michigan original, this family made popcorn will be exclusively sold at the home plate popcorn part, and it's amazing. Not only will you find some incredibly tasty flavors, you'll be supporting a family in our community as they make their popcorn dreams come true.

Chef Challenge: Dugout Tots by Chef Jeff VanderMeulen

The Whitecaps held a "Chopped" style competition, and these incredible tots walked away the winners. They're savory, they're topped with pickled onions, sauces and lots of flavor to bring one of the most simple snacks to a true tastebud explosion.

Mini Donuts / Ice Cream Sliders

This year the Whitecaps are offering up three incredible flavors of mini donuts for you to enjoy, with two options of how to eat them. You can try cinnamon sugar, cookies and cream, or salted caramel. You can enjoy them by themselves, or made into tiny ice cream sliders (which are just as incredible as they sound)

Home Runner Punch

And every good ballgame has an even better adult beverage to enjoy, and this one is new to the fold for 2024. Served in a souvenir tiki cup, this yummy drink features Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and Mackinac Island Banana Rum, perfectly complemented by cranberry juice and a splash of Starry.

This year's food and drink lineup is amazing enough to bring you out without the fun of the Whitecaps to go along with it. Make sure you try them all this season while they're available.
