The other day I drove past Malarky’s on the E. Beltline and saw a sign that read “Closed. New concept coming”.

Now, I had only ever been there for station-related events but I had a great time getting to know the staff and the owners when I was there, so I was a little bummed when I heard Malarky’s had closed.

However, once I heard the “new concept” I got pretty excited.

A new 64-tap tap house is expected to open this October at the site of the old Malarky’s and will feature a patio, open kitchen and full bar with 64 taps for craft beers and ciders, most coming from Michigan.

I have to admit, I was pretty jealous when I heard that the new HopCat planned for Indianapolis would have 130 taps when our Grand Rapids location only has 48.

But 64 is definitely an improvement- that’s a lot of beer!
