The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids is warning drivers to prepare for an icy and slippery start to the weekend, as a band of snow showers will greet the Friday morning commute.

While the Greater Grand Rapids metro will pick up any where from a dusting to an inch of now, south of town toward Wayland onto Kalamazoo and the Indiana border will pick up a lot more.

Branch County, near Coldwater, is forecasting 3-4 inches of snow, while the South Bend area in Indiana could see 4-6 inches of the white stuff.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been posted for Northern Indiana, and the NWS expects that band of heavy snow to be small, but brutal for this time of year.
