The cast of the 1979 cult movie classic 'The Warriors' will hold a reunion at Coney Island, New York next weekend.

Can you dig it, boppers?

If you didn't see the weird and wonderful gang movie, 'The Warriors', you need to order it on Amazon, or search it on favorite streaming site now, because it is great.

The film is about a gang (The Warriors) who are framed for the murder of Cyrus, who is attempting to unite all the gangs in New York. The Warriors have to fight their way back to their home turf of Coney Island, encountering all sorts of gangs trying to stop them.

A radio DJ, whose only shown from her nose down, broadcasts messages to the warring gangs along the way, offering clues to the Warriors whereabouts, referring to the gang members as 'Boppers'. The DJ was portrayed by the late actress Lynne Thigpen, who later starred in the PBS show 'Where In The World Is Carmen San Diego'.

Luther, the guy who framed the leader of the Warriors is a classic psychopath who taunts the rogue gang to fight by clinging bottles together, to create an epic cinematic moment that is equal parts funny and scary.

According to the web site, the BensonhurstBean, the remaining living cast members from the movie will gather at Coney Island on Sunday, September 13.

“The group of actors love each other, and this bond just doesn’t happen often,” event organizer Eric Nyenhaus explained to the Bean. “The cinematography and story are incredible. And I think it has a universal meaning. Homebase is always homebase. Going home is your comfort zone.”

The wonder of the movie was the different gangs and how they dressed. Here's one of the better scenes, when the Warriors face a gang known as the Baseball Furies, who paint their faces a la KISS and wear baseball uniforms and wield bats as weapons.

The movie was banned in several cities for promoting gang violence, and has spawned several video games. A remake was planner until director Tony Scott died before it could reach fruition.
