When you were 12, it seemed very possible that the hoverboard that Michael J. Fox used in "Back To The Future Part II" would be a reality in your life time.

First, the good news, it may happen. The bad news? You'll have to pony up some cash to help move the project along.

Marty McFly whipped around the streets of Hill Valley in "Back To the Future Part II" on his hoverboard, which was a skateboard without wheels.

A company called Hendo Hover has launched a KickStarter page to raise funds for a real-life working hoverboard with the goal of pulling in $250,000.

Clearly, Hendo Hover has touched a nerve because it’s almost near its goal.

Skeptical? You have every right to be. We’ve seen hoverboards that appeared to be real before — only to later learn it was a hoax or simply not functional.

This endeavor appears to be earnest, however, so hop on your non-flying skateboard and get to the bank to pull your life’s savings in the hopes of making this a reality.
