Last week we learned that Younkers at Rivertown Mall would be closing but CNN Money is reporting that the parent company for Younkers, Bon-Ton will be closing ALL of their stores around the U.S. This also includes Bon-Ton's other department stores: Bergner's, Boston Store, Carson's, Elder-Beerman, and Herberger's. That's 256 stores in 23 states. About 23,000 employees will be affected.

CNN says the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February but didn't find a buyer so on Wednesday a judge approved liquidation.

According to a press release from Bon-Ton, "Going out of business" sales begin [in stores and online] on Friday the 20th. Their website already shows that everything must go! After 160 years in business, all stores will be closed no later than August 31st.

Other West Michigan Younkers include Holland & Muskegon.
