Nobody in their right mind would dare forget to do something for mom on Mother’s Day, but Father’s Day is a whole different story. In fact, according to a new RetailMeNot survey, barely three quarters of Americans (73%) will buy dad a gift next Sunday, where as 83-percent bought mom something on her big day. And those getting gifts for dad will likely spend significantly less, with the average amount spent on Father's Day $57 as compared to Mother’s Day which was $85.

So, now that we’ve made you feel bad about forgoing that Father’s Day gift, what are you going to get him? Well, the survey found that 37-percent of dads actually want gift cards so they can buy something for themselves, something 67-percent of them say they don’t do as often now that they have kids. Other wish list items include: clothing (26%), large electronics (25%) and new gadgets (23%). But the one thing dad seems to want the most won’t really cost you anything. Forty six percent really just want to spend time with their family on Father’s Day.
