When New Jersey Governor Chris Christie announced yesterday he was running for president, several songs by Bon Jovi played in the background, but unlike the problems Donald Trump had with Neil Young, Christie got the okay to use the tunes before going on stage.

“My friendships are apolitical and yes, I absolutely gave him permission to use the songs,” Jon Bon Jovi told Billboard.com through his spokesperson.

Christie threw his hat in the ring for the Republican presidential nomination at his old high school in Livingston, New Jersey, playing Bon Jovi songs "Because We Can," "It's My Life," "We Weren't Born to Follow" and "Who Says You Can't Go Home,” at different points I the rally.

You have to wonder why he left off “Livin’ on a Prayer", considering how wide open the GOP race is already with 13 official declarations and more expected to come before the first primary hits in January.

But Christie shouldn’t expect Jon’s vote in the next election. The New Jersey native is a longtime Democrat, and even hosted a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton on Monday.

Here's the Governor talking about his relationship with Jon back in 2013.

And speaking of musicians from New Jersey, here's a parody featuring Bruce Springsteen about the fabled traffic jams allegedly created by Christie's feud with the Mayor of Fort Lee, NJ near the George Washington Bridge to New York.
