Lake Effect snow is something few understand outside of the Great Lakes, and while we certainly have been feeling it early weight this week, nothing compares to the six feet of snow dumped on the Buffalo area.

This video shows the storm gathering moisture and rolling in off Lake Erie, much like "The Fog" from the Stephen King novel.

This is the video Jojo referenced when talking with Jeff Musial, the Animal Guy, Wednesday morning.

I noticed that Facebook friends who don't live in the region posting this with comments like "that's cool!" Sure it is. Until you're underneath it, than not so much.

The great thing about this video is you can almost see the process of the cold wind forcing warm air aloft and forming snow all in 30 seconds.

This storm brought crazy snow totals to Western New York, leaving people stranded on the roads, with storm stories like this one involving the Niagara University women's basketball team.
