A Clinton Township man wanted to bring his girlfriend from Arizona back to Michigan.

What happened next is not only unbelievable, it would make a great movie.

The first problem was, he's sole caretaker of his 92-year-old wheelchair-bound mother.

So, he straps Mom into a van and drives down to Arizona to pick up the woman, who lives in a mental health facility in Glendale, Ariz., outside Phoenix.

A few miles into the trip, she goes into a gas station bathroom and takes one too many pills, gets back into the van and dies.

Fearing he'll get in trouble with the law, the man decides his best bet is to put sunglasses on the dead woman, buckle her into the passenger seat and drive to his friend's house in Warren, Mich., without stopping for anything but gas, which is troubling to his elderly mom, who would like to use the bathroom from time to time.

Eventually the friend reports the man to Warren police who take him into custody, let's the now soiled Mom get cleaned up and stores the body of the woman for her relatives.

It's unsure whether any charges will be made, but at least he'll have the best story to share at the family Christmas party.

At least that's how I envisioned it.

The news report from WJBK-TV, Detroit's Channel 2, isn't nearly as entertaining.
