Thank you to everyone who came out and had some fun with us at the Insane Inflatables 5K race this weekend at Millennium Park! We had a lot of fun, and it looked like everyone had a blast while running and conquering the giant inflatables along the route!
The Insane Inflatable 5K -- a dynamic fun run series comprised of inflatable obstacles -- coming to Grand Rapids at Millennium Park is now on Aug. 15 and 16.
The second day was just added because of local demand.
The 5-kilometer (3.1-mile run) isn’t focused on running. Instead, it's about having fun negotiating oversized inflatable obstacles on a challenging course requiring imagination, creativity and a heaping helping of insanity.
For runners, this weekend is the mother-load of runs in Grand Rapids.
Saturday, October 18, is the Run thru the Rapids, followed by Sunday's Grand Rapids Marathon.
A 19-year-old Marine, home on leave, randomly decided to run a 5K race last Saturday, and now he's an internet sensation. Lance Corporal Myles Kerr was home in Charlevoix visiting family, and had just arrived home the day before. But, he decided that the next morning he was going to suit up in his boots, fatigues, and backpack, and run the 5K race. That's pretty impressive in and of itself, but it's what happened during the race that his getting him all of the attention.
This is a pretty cool story actually! This guy was badly injured in a car accident, and six months later, Brandon Mulnix, 32, of Lowell ran a 50-mile race in 12 hours and 29 minutes - with his jaw wired shut.

Seeing as this weekend the 5/3'd Riverbank run , though might be a good time to share a Runner's World magazine has a new book called "Run Your Butt Off" for brand new runners who are looking to drop pounds. They say running can't do it alone, but if you follow these rules, you can shed dozens of pounds in 3-months. Agree?
We live in a prosperous country where pretty much everything we truly need is not that far away. At the very least, we never worry about it. But, should we be worrying?
