It's that time of year! The annual Ringling Brothers circus at Van Andel Arena. A fixture in the are for years, the circus takes over the arena for the next week or so. Unlike a concert or a hockey game. where equipment or support is trucked or bussed in, the animals arrive mostly by train. Hence the animal walk from the train station through the streets of Downtown Grand Rapids is a pretty cool event!

Our good friends at WZZM TV 13 are on top of the story. The train was through Kalamazoo about noontime, so that means it arrived in Grand Rapids about 3. The tentative time for the animal walk is about 7:30. From the WZZM Website:

"The Ringling Bros. Animal Walk will begin near the intersection of Graham and Ionia, heading down Ionia and turning onto Oakes and into the back of Van Andel Arena. The best place to view the walk is along Ionia, and, for safety reasons, the public is asked to stay off of railroad property. An elephant from the circus will also be out in front of the Van Andel Arena on Wednesday at about 11:30am creating a painting for ArtPrize. The public is welcome to that event."
