Late last week, we shared a video from Tampa, Florida of a homeless man playing Styx' 'Come Sail Away' on a street corner, garnering the praise of many business folks who used to shue the man away for being a nuisance.

Now, he has a haircut, and a chance to go back to college.

The man is Donald Gould, an ex-Marine who fell on hard times following his wife's suicide in 1998. After the video of him playing the Styx classic became a viral sensation, gathering over six million views, people snapped into action to help the man known on the streets only as 'Boone.'

The program (which airs locally on WOOD-TV, Channel 8 weeknights at 7:00pm) also says they are attempting to reunite Gould with his son, who he gave up to Social Services when he fell upon hard times.

Gould had also revealed that he was close to a college degree in music education, but was forced to quit when he ran out of funds. That college was Michigan's Spring Arbor University (near Jackson), and they are reviewing Gould's transcripts and say he is more than welcome to come back to school and finish up his remaining credits free of charge.

While all of this is glorious news for not only Gould, but for mankind for being so generous, please be reminded that Gould has been down a dark road that didn't happen overnight, and his rehabilitation will be an equally slow process. I wish for him love and patience from his benefactors as he pieces his life back together.
