Recall – E Coli Found in Ground Beef in Michigan
***Original story ran in September
Right when it was safe for Michiganders to go back to eating lettuce, the USDA's Food and Safety Inspection has announced a recall on over 32,000 pounds of ground beef sold at Meijer, Sam's Club, Target, and more stores in Michigan after one person died and another 17 became ill from an e. coli outbreak. The suspect meat was packaged by Cargill Meat Solutions. Click here for a complete list of stores and weights, measures, and other packaging involved with the recall.
According to WebMD, symptoms of e. coli include abdominal cramps, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, kidney failure, fever, confusion, and seizures. It is recommended you get emergency help if any of these symptoms occur. Wash hands and cook meats thoroughly to lessen possibilities of contamination.
