St. Patrick's day is coming up next month, on Wednesday, March 17th. What better way to celebrate leading up to the holiday than with a Shamrock Shake or and OREO® Shamrock McFlurry® from McDonald's!

Both of these popular items will be returning to the menu boards at your local McDonald's starting on Monday, February 15th for a limited time.

In a recent press release, McDonald’s Sr. Director of Culinary, Chad Schafer said: “For more than 50 years, fans have eagerly awaited the annual return of the Shamrock Shake, counting on the arrival of Shamrock Shake Season to mark the unofficial start to spring. And we heard they especially enjoyed getting a taste of the one-and-only Shamrock flavor in a new way last year with the OREO® Shamrock McFlurry. We know this winter may feel longer than others so we’re thrilled to give customers something to look forward to by bringing both fan-favorites back to the menu this month.”

The Shamrock Shake has been around longer than you might imagine. It was originally created by Hal Rosen, a Connecticut McDonald’s Owner-Operator in 1967. He invented the shake in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. It later was introduced in select locations across the U.S. in 1970 and became an instant success. McDonald's says this creamy treat is the most anticipated dessert to reappear on their menu each year.

The OREO® Shamrock McFlurry® is a much newer St. Patrick's Day favorite. It first debuted on U.S. menus last year and the good news is that it is back by popular demand for 2021. The OREO® Shamrock McFlurry® features creamy, vanilla soft serve with Shamrock Shake flavor and OREO® cookie pieces blended throughout. The news release refers to this delight as a "flavor combination that’s 'mint' to be!"
