The Tiger that was many fans "Tiger" is hanging it up. The hero of the 2006 American League Championship series Magglio Ordonez is retiring this weekend with a ceremony at Comerica Park. The image of the homer he hit to send the Tigs to the World Series only three years after the team lost 119 games is burned in many Michigan sports fans' memory.

But the past couple of season Mags' had injuries and advancing age going against him. In the day of 19 year old phenoms, there's not much room left for a 38 year old outfielder with bad knees making 11 million a year. Maybe he's a coaching candidate? Plenty of fans would like to see Jim Leyland replaced...;) Mags did play some rehab time for the Whitecaps, another advantage to having the farm team of the big league team in town.
