Retrovision

It's that time of year...March Madness. And brackets. Like with everything, we are getting bombarded with brackets. Vote for your favorite this, or its the "Battle for that". Remember when the only brackets there were had to do with Basketball?

For Steve the Web Guy, here's the latest WFGR Retrovision installment-Computer Ads from the 70's and 80's! Remember when NO ONE had a computer? Or if the rich family down the block had one, it cost thousands of dollars, or it was a Commodore 64 and the kid was a nerd? Of course EVERYONE has a computer--or a small computer called a smart phone--these days.

Remember this? I do.  My mom said "I just saw the coolest commercial" and then she proceeded to rewind our TOP loading VHS VCR and play it back for me. Pretty funny on all memories.  This has to go down as one of the more memorable Ad campaigns of the 80's for sure...

Here's "Reality" TV before there was what we now call Reality TV. Remember this show?  Look how young everyone looks as well. This show ran for 5 seasons, which is way longer than I had remembered!  I miss TV like this really.  I'm sorry, but we all know "The Real World" and "Survivor"...

Craig and myself got to talking about TV with cool theme songs, and we got talking about this show!  Ah such a blast from the 80's past, in a good way.  Who could forget Markie Post's classic 80's hairstyles that changed every week! Check out this classic clip from a by-gone era of cheesy, yet great TV...

Let's take a trip back in time..to the 70's! It's another WFGR Retrovision. Thanks to the good folks at GRNow.com, we can see what Grand Rapids was all about in the heart of WFGR. The 1970's. The Eagles, Boston, Billy Joel and Elton John. Plus the start of Monroe Center, the Owls and the Amway Grand.

So the next time you go to download a song or pirate a movie off the internet, remember the people who paved the way for you to push a few buttons and voila-Die Hard 3. Back in the day it was much much tougher.

This is serious blast from the past. Fur Coat, Bob Barker with brown hair, and a general malaise of the crowd.   Hard to believe this show is STILL on the air some 40 years later, and still basically plays the same!

Who had one of these, or wanted on of these? Of course you did.  Who doesn't want to take 3 hours to make a cake with a light bulb?  Check out this blast from the past.

"Whatchu talkin' about Willis?"  - "Dynomite!" or "Kiss my Grits!"  - What do they all have in common?  That's right, they were all famous sit-com tag lines!  What was your favorite? I have to say, I think my favorite was "KISS MY GRITS" but there were a lot of other classics too...

Check out this baby from 1956.   My question is, what does one store on a hard drive in 1956?   Vidoes? Music? Pictures?  Probably not. It was likely just boring data.
