This is a free family alternative to trick-or-treating! Everyone is welcome to celebrate Halloween in a safe and fun way at Milham Park. There will be a costume contest, inflatable corn maze, spin art, a 360-degree photo booth, and lots of Halloween themed games setup throughout the park. There will also be apple cider, donuts, and plenty of candy too! Also on the schedule: Pumpkin Racing, a Magic Show, and dance performances. This parade started back in 1998. Ginger Wilkinson started the parade for her husband Russell Wilkinson, who always wanted a nighttime torch parade. When she started it, Halloween weekend was one of the slowest in town. The first year we had less than 100 people, but now it is one of the busiest weekends in town. There are two tours being offered on Saturday, one starting at 8 pm and another at 9 pm. Tour guides will portray a member of Grand Rapids' past to heighten your historical experience. The Ghosts of Grand Rapids Walking Tours begin and end at the Grand Rapids Public Library (111 Library St NE). The tour covers just over a mile and takes approximately 2 hours. All Tours require advance registration and payment. However, if any tickets are remaining the day of the tour, they will be available on site. On the tour you will learn the real story behind the legend of the AT&T building, listen to the dark history of the Pantlind Hotel, discover the story of the cursed Ashton Building, hear about a get rich quick scheme that involved the murder of an entire family, and many more haunted locations!!
